The restoration of Lougheed House: A Public Heritage Centre, is essentially complete, however, we are continuing with the vision that will make this 2.8 acre estate and historic mansion the showplace it once was. In partnership with the Calgary Rose Society, we've begun an exciting project at Lougheed House! Look just to the west of the House and you will see a Victorian rose garden in the making.
Named after Lady Isabella Lougheed, this lovely formal garden will become a jewel in the city. Victorian gardens are designed with beautiful colours, textures and fragrances to tantalise the senses. A display of heritage roses, complemented by colourful perennials, this garden will be a Victorian room out-of-doors, a peaceful place of contemplation and harmony.
Enter this special garden through the custom-made, replica wrought iron arbour, which supports magnificent John Cabot Roses. Lady Lougheed Rose Garden is growing to become the perfect place for a tea party, a picnic, a ceremony or summer entertainment, or simply a lovely haven to wile away a delightful hour or two on the garden bench, surrounded by Victorian beauty.
