LOUGHEED HOUSE
Lougheed House is a hidden gem, nestled in the heart of Downtown Calgary. Built in 1891 by Senator James Alexander Lougheed and located on a stunning 2.8 acre estate, this National Historic Site is the ideal venue for an elegant, unique, and timeless wedding.
From 1891 to 1936, the House and Gardens were home to Senator James Alexander Lougheed, Lady Isabella Hardisty Lougheed, and their six children and staff. During their time period, the Lougheeds were among Calgary's most influential citizens. Their house was a political and social hub and received many renowned visitors.
Today, many thousands of visitors from around the world come to view
the House and its Gardens. Visitors can take a guided tour with an experienced interpreter, dine in The Restaurant, or visit the gift shop to find the perfect gift for friends and family. The House is host to a breathtaking art gallery where visitors can view and purchase one of a kind art pieces. Throughout the year, visitors can participate in numerous seasonal workshops, attend our annual community events. or volunteer for the House, or in the beautiful Gardens. Children can enroll in a number of different historical and educational school programs and learn the history behind this magnificent House.
Lougheed House boasts free onsite parking for up to 38 cars, as well as friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff to assist guests with any queries. Lougheed House is yours to discover and enjoy.

SEATING
Situated in our Drawing Room, Mission Room, or Ballroom, Lougheed House can accommodate from ten to 96 people for a plated dinner and up to 200 guests for a cocktail reception or dance.
DRAWING ROOM
The Drawing Room was originally used by the Lougheeds to receive many renowned guests. Your guests will delight in the splendor of this room as they arrive to enjoy your wedding. This room can seat seven tables of eight people, as well as your head table.
MISSION ROOM
Originally used by the Lougheed family as an informal family sitting room, the Mission Room makes a stunning venue for a plated dinner. With its all around three quarter length windows, guests can enjoy dinner while looking out at the breathtaking Lougheed Gardens. The Mission Room alone can accommodate four round tables, each seating eight people.
CATERING
Lougheed House has selected three of Calgary's finest caterers to ensure your chosen cuisine enhances your special day. A cocktail reception, buffet, banquet, or plated dinner, whatever you desire, Distinctive Catering, Euro Catering, or Red Tree, will work with you to guarantee a tempting, tasteful and tantalizing experience. Everything from centre pieces to linens, silverware to bar tenders, specifically designed for your dream wedding.
CARE OF THE HISTORIC BUILDING
Special events are part of life at the newly restored Lougheed House. To protect the house from potential damage, we're careful about limiting certain activities. By knowing the rules up front, our guests can enjoy their event while safeguarding a vital piece of Canadian heritage. If you have questions about the suitability of your potential event or activity, just ask.
HISTORIC INTERPRETERS
Our historic interpreters know the House and its history intimately. They're the perfect guides to show you and your group all that Lougheed House has to offer, and tours generally take about an hour. Please book at least two weeks ahead for larger groups.
