The Lougheed House Conservation Society was created in 1995 for the purpose of restoring, preserving, and operating the site as a public heritage centre on behalf of the provincial government and continues to do so today.

BOARD CHAIR

  • Jennifer McColl is the Director of People and Culture with Vecova Centre for Disability Services and Research. She is a creative non-profit leader and human resources professional with more than 20 years of experience in the sector. Jennifer is a Certified Professional in Human Resources and holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Leicester and a non-profit management certificate from Mount Royal University. She joined the Board of Directors of Lougheed House out of a lifelong interest in history and museums, along with a strong belief in the importance of the preservation of our built heritage and an interest in contributing to that work in our community.

VICE CHAIR AND GOVERNANCE CHAIR

  • Kathleen MacPherson is currently Chief Development Officer at the United Way of Calgary and Area.  With over 20 years of experience in the charitable and social profit sector, Kathleen has held various senior roles with the United Way of Calgary and Area, the University of Calgary and the Calgary Health Foundation. Over her career, Kathleen has been directly involved in raising more than $1 billion for the Calgary community. She has mentored and coached hundreds of staff throughout her career, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2017.

  • Yisha Pang has more than 15 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, management reporting, corporate risk management, internal controls and financial planning & analysis. She began her career in public accounting, providing services to public and private organizations across Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand and is currently in Finance at Enbridge. 

    Yisha holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary, a Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. Yisha was a long-time resident of the Beltline and frequent visitor and admirer of Lougheed House. She is also a history enthusiast and thrilled to be supporting the preservation and continued evolution of the Lougheed House as a community space into the future.

  • Following a 26-year career in teaching and school administration, Jean Kruse became the general manager for the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division). She has also been a volunteer interpreter at Heritage Park, sharing stories about the history of Calgary, for the past 15 years, and is presently vice chair of the Calgary Stampede Historical Committee. She has volunteered on the boards of the Famous Five Foundation, Alberta Horse Industry, Red Cross Alberta, and the University of Calgary Alumni Association. She holds a Master of Education Administration and Leadership from the University of Alberta, a Diploma in Educational Administration specializing in Human Resources Management and recently completed the Indigenous Canada course delivered by the University of Alberta.

  • Jackie Mattock Howard has more than 30 years’ experience in fundraising and the nonprofit sector in various capacities including Vice President, Resource Development, Principal gifts, and as a consultant. More recently, she has worked in innovation, and she led the development of a non-profit business start-up. Jackie is passionately committed to the Calgary community and a champion for change. A native Calgarian, Jackie is a graduate of the University of Calgary with Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She is married and mother of two amazing young people.

  • Frano Cavar is the Director of Public Affairs and External Relations at the Calgary Construction Association. He is responsible for developing a robust advocacy, government relations, and media strategy for the Association and its membership. As a former Chief of Staff to a Calgary City Councillor, Frano has a sound awareness of local and city-wide municipal affairs and a grasp of current social and political issues.. A natural collaborator, he understands the importance of relationship-building with industry, stakeholders within the City of Calgary, partner organizations, and the public.

Director

  • David Rothwell is a Senior Compliance Specialist with Sunoco LP and brings a strong governance and risk-informed perspective to his board service. A native Calgarian, he is deeply passionate about Calgary’s history, heritage conservation, and the role historic places play in strengthening community identity and civic pride. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University, a Strategic Decision and Risk Management Professional Certificate from Stanford University, and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional. Through board and volunteer involvement with alumni and community-based organizations, David is committed to supporting Calgary’s cultural legacy with a strong focus on governance, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making.

  • Frank Finley is a writer and advisor in the field of heritage with a special interest in lost architecture and the political future of the industry. In Spring of 2024, Frank was awarded a Historical Society of Alberta grant for work on his forthcoming book, Lost Calgary. Frank also serves as a member of the National Trust’s Federal Issues Working Group, as a board member for the Chinook Country Historical Society, and as the lead researcher for Lost Canada, a digital project which showcases lost architecture from across the country. Prior to this work, Frank served as a member of the University of Calgary Board of Governors, and in roles in the Alberta Office of the Premier and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In his spare time, Frank pursues his interests of meteorology and composition for string.

  • Tyler Morgan is currently the Controller at Jepson Petroleum. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Tyler began his career in the trades, earning a Journeyman ticket in HVAC. Driven by a desire to expand his skills, he later completed a Bachelor of Management degree from Athabasca University, blending practical industry experience with a strong foundation in business management.

    A proud Calgarian, Tyler has always had a deep appreciation for the city’s rich history. He is excited to give back to the community by serving on the board of directors at Lougheed House. As a member of the finance committee, Tyler is dedicated to supporting the preservation of this historic landmark and ensuring its sustainability for future generations.

  • Amy is a born and raised Calgarian who lives in the inner city with her husband, three children, and dog. She is a journalist and a lawyer by training, having worked in radio between 2009 and 2012, and in law since 2015. Amy's early legal career was spent working on behalf of First Nations to advance their historic claims, often dealing with treaty breaches and land takings dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. She currently advises clients on energy regulatory matters, appearing before various regulatory tribunals in relation to energy infrastructure projects and related activities.

  • Catherine Nesmith, PhD is a project and stakeholder-relations leader with extensive experience in non-profit governance, government relations, strategic planning, and community-based program delivery. Over more than a decade in senior roles across government, consulting, settlement services, youth programs, and national health initiatives, she has led complex multi-stakeholder projects, managed multi-site programs, assessed grant applications for the Canadian Museums Association, and supported pan-Canadian engagement efforts. She brings deep expertise in Indigenous engagement, including research and strategy work related to the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement and supporting Truth and Reconciliation Commission public-education events. Catherine has held senior non-profit leadership roles, including Acting Executive Director of ELSA Net, and previously served as an Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University. She holds a PhD in Geography (University of Cambridge) and a BA in Geography and Economics (University of Victoria), and is completing a Master of Education in Museum Education (UBC). She is motivated to support Lougheed House and seeks to contribute her expertise through inclusive, research-informed governance.

  • Walsh received his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Alberta in 2007 and shortly thereafter joined Avison Young on the Capital Markets Team. Walsh's sales focus involves inner-city development sites, retail assets and office buildings. Walsh currently sits on the board of Calgary's Top 7 over 70, the RECA Hearing Panel and has volunteered at the Calgary Stampede since 2009.

  • Mike Saul CPA, PMP, is a senior finance and governance leader with extensive experience in financial stewardship, internal controls, and enterprise systems across the energy, agriculture, and industrial services sectors. As founder of Saul Consulting, he provides fractional CFO and advisory support, leading budgeting, forecasting, payroll oversight, financial reporting, and finance-process modernization. Previously, he held finance leadership roles at Brandt Equipment and Cervus Equipment, supporting M&A integration, operational reporting transformation, and large-scale enterprise system conversions, and began his career in audit and risk at KPMG and Ernst & Young. Mike holds a BBA (Accounting) from Mount Royal University, a Professional Certificate in Data Science from Harvard, and CPA and PMP designations. He is motivated to support Calgary’s cultural heritage and seeks to contribute his expertise through service on the Lougheed House Finance Committee.
