ACCESSIBILITY
All levels of the House are accessible by elevator, however due to the nature of the historic building, some of the doorways on the 2nd floor are narrow.
Accessible parking is available.
While the gardens are tiered, all four quadrants of the park can be accessed without the use of stairs via sloped paths, although there may be some uneven ground/grass.

THE HOUSE
Constructed in 1891 with 3 acres of garden, the sandstone mansion blends Victorian and Edwardian architectural styles and was renowned for its beauty and innovations. Its restoration in 2005 preserved the house as a National and Provincial Historic Site and one of the oldest buildings in Calgary on its original location.
THE HOME
This family home of Senator Sir James Alexander Lougheed and Lady Isabella Clark Hardisty Lougheed was also a political, cultural, and social hub in Calgary until 1936. Emerging community groups then made their home here to serve the changing city, including a women’s training facility, a women’s army corps, and finally a Red Cross blood donor clinic.

FAQs
What door should I use when visiting the museum?
Visitors can enter the museum through the visitor entrance on the west side of the building. This entrance is indicated by a sign at the bottom of the stairs/ramp.
Is the museum wheelchair accessible?
Yes, Lougheed House is accessible by wheelchair. Our visitor entrance is accessible by a ramp on the west side of the building. All three floors are accessible by elevator, however several doorways on the second floor are narrow due to their historic nature.
How much does it cost to visit the museum?
Admission to Lougheed House costs $8.50 per person, with senior, youth, and family rates available. Admission is always free for children aged 6 and under, and there are a variety of free admissions available for National Trust members, Air Cadets, and more. Does Lougheed House accept the donations of items?

When is the museum open?
From May to September, the museum is open every Thursday to Sunday, 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. From September to May, the museum is open every Friday to Sunday, 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. We are closed for all statutory holidays unless otherwise posted. The museum is closed for the month of January and re-opens in February.
Where should I park?
Lougheed House has two visitor parking lots with free parking for visitors to the House and museum. One can be accessed from 13th Ave SW, and the other from 14th Ave SW. Both lots have spaces for wheelchair accessible parking. During busy times, guests may be required to use street parking. Parking prices are as marked for street parking.
Can I visit the museum outside of open hours?
Outside of opening hours, Lougheed House is often booked for private tours, events, photoshoots, and school programs. Contact our guest services team about booking a private tour or event outside of open hours.

The museum at Lougheed House features three floors of exhibits, architecture, and more for visitors to explore. You can expect to see our year-round exhibit, Foundation to Future, which tells the story of Lougheed House and its many residents since its construction in 1891. Additionally, we offer temporary themed exhibits, interactive art pieces, and various programming at different times of the year.
